So Howie D. from the Backstreet Boys finally released his solo CD and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by it. Honestly I didn't think I would like it that much but its really good. I decided to give my 3 cents on each song and say why I like it or why I don't like it. :)
1. 100 - its a pretty catchy song. The beat is fun. I dunno if I would have picked it for the lead off single. Side note: The chapstick promo he did for the song was pretty creative, not gonna lie. ;)
2. Back to me - this song is one of my favorites. I dunno what it is about the song but I love it. Its catchy and fun. I really love the chorus. I like the reference about a boomerang, clever.
3. Going going gone - another one of my favorites. I have had this song stuck in my head for the past week.(not that I am complaining) I like the "Can I hear you say 1 time...do I hear you say 2 times? What about 3 times..." My favorite part is the "don't wanna be left but you don't know how to be right." It amuses me.
4. Lie to me - From the first time I heard this song I loved it. Its catchy and the lyrics are good. Good choice for a second single I think.
5. Pure - at first this was my favorite song but after listening to the songs a lot it got bumped down a little but I still like it. Howie and Nick co-wrote this together, they definitely are good together.
6. Sleepwalking - Really digging the lyrics to this song. I like songs that don't use the typical stuff to talk about wanting/loving a person.
7. Stay - this song is just alright. I mean I don't hate it, but its not my favorite either. Guess I just like the othe songs more.
8. This is just what I needed - The song is fun but the rap kind of ruins it for me. I dunno it just kind of doesn't fit with the song really. I think I would like it better without it. I also am kind of digging Howie's freaky side with some of the lyrics. haha Also his little "yeah" in the beginning is pretty sexy. ;)
9. Dominoes - At first I thought the song was just okay but then I listened to it more and really listened to the lyrics and I really like the way he uses the lyrics. Its a really fun, catchy song with some cool metaphors.
10. Over my head - my first thought for this song was that he has the same title for a song on his solo record as Brian. LOL I don't like about the song is the repetition of "over my head" at times its a bit too much. It also reminds me of another song but I can't think of the name of it. I also don't care too much for the auto-tune that is used at times.
11. Shatterproof - this is a good song. I like the line "you think your shatterproof but I throw myself into you prepare to crash cause I can't wait for you to break what makes you so afraid to break..." The beat is pretty good too.
12. Way to your heart - I can see why Howie told me this was one of his favorites. Its pretty, the beat is good. Its a great way to end the CD I think.
So the moral of this review really is that his CD is pretty amazing and you should go to iTunes, amazon, orhowied.com and buy it. Its awesome and so is Howie. :)
