Pretty sure this is something you file under "Things that will never happen...." but one day Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys called me on the phone. Why you might ask? Well because I asked. Sounds too simple right? But that's what happened. In fact, it really started out as a joke. There was a Christmas contest and each day there was a different prize. One day a few lucky fans got a phone call from Howie and I tweeted jokingly and said I'd prefer a phone call from Brian and it just went from there...
So what would you do if a Backstreet Boy told you to send them your digits? Well you'd be crazy not to send them right? Hehe So of course I did but still never thought he'd go through with it. I guess by now I should learn never to doubt that man. ;)
So over the next few months I would jokingly tweet things about him calling me and sometimes he would reply back with something funny. (He is a tease sometimes on purpose but I think that's just part of his Littrell charm, but shhh don't tell him that I think its acceptable. ;) LOL)
This one might have been my favorite. I could totally picture/hear him in my head singing this and I'm not gonna lie it killed me a little bit. (Let's not tell him I think that's acceptable too. LOL)
Now after reading that I was willing to give him all the change he needed to make "the call" if that's what it would take....
This might have been the funniest one. Gotta love auto correct. It was really supposed to say "some DAY" not "some daddy" but it was funny and totally not intentional despite what some might think. At this point I was still skeptical that it would ever happen but like I said before its not usually smart to doubt Brian.
So fast forward a little bit and I kind of gave up on the idea of Brian ever really calling me. But on April 1st I decided to give it another shot....I figured my birthday is in April it would be the perfect time right? Again Brian told me to give him the number so of course I did. I also told him my birthday wasn't until April 17th but if he wanted to call me today I wouldn't be mad. So this time it was a little different....
Because a few minutes later my phone rang and on the other end was Brian!!! Let's first discuss how I almost pressed "ignore" instead of "answer." How horrible would that have been? I hope at least if that happened Brian would be nice and leave some sort of voice mail but still I would have been super sad. LOL Luckily that didn't happen though. ;)
So I answered the phone and the first thing Brian said was "So your birthday is April 17th?" I replied with "umm yes?" (I was slightly confused because who just says that as an opening line on the phone? Hehe) We didn't talk long but at that moment it seemed forever. I kept telling him it was crazy and that I was freaking out, even though I really wasn't but at the same time I really couldn't believe I was actually talking to him on the phone.
I told him I didn't really think he would call but he informed me that he's not the kind of guy who likes to break promises. I then informed him that its that kind of answer that is why he's my favorite, well one of the reasons. ;)
He asked me what I was doing, I'm sure he wasn't too interested in that I was just watching cool. (I live a pretty awesome life as you can see. HAHA) He told me they were getting ready to have movie night, I asked what they were watching and he said they were waiting on Baylee to pick something out.
He then told me how it was a beautiful day in Atlanta and I told him how it was still snowing and cold in NY. He thought it was crazy. Its kind of funny because when I tell people I talked to Brian on the phone their first question is "what did you talk about?" and I answer with "Oh you know the weather...." and they think I'm just being funny but we did in fact talk about the weather. LOL
At this point we still didn't have much info about the 20th anniversary fan event/ Walk of fame stuff in LA which was in like 3 weeks so I asked Brian if he had any info. He said they had just got an e-mail that day about it. (Backstreet Time at its finest I guess. LOL) I told him how plane tickets aren't cheap and how fans need to plan and how sometimes I'm not a fan of Backstreet Time. I then told him I guess after 20 years I should be used to it and he laughed and said "yeah." LOL He thought it was cool I was coming from NY for it though.
That's about all I really remember. At the end he told me Happy Early Birthday and to stay warm in NY and that he'd see me in LA. LOL And we hung up and I freaked out slightly. Haha No shame in my game. LOL
Oh and the funniest part on the phone is randomly I heard his dogs bark and he yelled "Shut up and be quiet." And it might have amused me more than it probably should. LOL
So the moral of this story is A. NEVER doubt a Backstreet Boy especially if his name is Brian. and B. Anything is possible if you just believe in it enough. :)
I know it may be crazy to some because its just a little phone call but its these kind of simple moments that take up the most room in a heart. Sometimes the smaller the gesture the better, at least to me. Its also another reason why I love these boys so much. They do really care about their fans and those few extra seconds/minutes they take to sign an autograph or stop for a picture or in this case Brian taking a few minutes out of HIS TIME with his family to call me that mean so much and I seriously cannot thank him enough for it. :)
Hi again! I m the Spanish girl again. I am surprised and i think your are one of the most lucky girl in the world hahaha. I forgot before my name is Andrea ;)
